The Soviet Union suffered massive losses in World War I, one of the
worst hit countries that participated. When Albert Einstein changed history, he also
unknowingly changed the course of history for this powerful nation. After the war the
Soviets went into isolation, refusing to join the democracy that was the new European
Alliance. Their communist ways grew stronger than ever, and their recovery from the war
was swift and effective. They built up large resource centers and encouraged trade with
other nations China, Ukraine and Cuba to form a huge, well disciplined army.
Josef Stalin came into power in 1924, he
promised reforms and expansion, he dealt with opposition brutally. After nearly forty
years of isolation from Europe, he began to realize his position and mother country were
threatened by the growing peaceful democratic ways of the Allies. With Germany no longer
the fascist threat that it was, Stalin found he was without opposition for expansion into
the west.
It has been Stalin's dream to see the
whole of Europe and the USSR united under one rule, and in 1962 the time had come to
strike. The Europeans and the majority of the world were shocked to see the huge Soviet
army rushing into Allied countries, and were barely able to manage a counter strike. Many
of the their trading partners like Cuba and Ukraine pledged their support for the Soviet
Union, while others like China broke off trade agreements and refused to support such
drastic action. Stalin wasn't bothered though, his plans were unstoppable, and the Allies
were beginning to crumble under the might of their superior technology, the Atomic Bomb
and Iron Curtain, and soon they were successful at capturing and taking over the Chinese
government as soon as they showed signs of directly opposing them.
But before he could utilize this massive
increase of manpower China presented to him, the balance of power began to tip back into
the Allies favor, Stalin discovered they had constructed a powerful device called the
Chronosphere which enabled them to transport troops directly into Moscow in an attempt to
overthrow him. With the majority of his army attacking Europe and China, there was not
much resistance for the Allies to face at Moscow itself, and their victory was inevitable.
As his city crumbled around him, Stalin's last order was to send his secret aide, the
psychic Yuri to China in order to make sure the Allies didn't know that they had taken
over the country, in hopes that they could use the Chinese army to strike back. Soon
afterward he was killed when his Palace collapsed under heavy fire, and the Allies
declared victory.
But what happens now? Russia lies silent,
China stays unknown. The Allies, under assistance of the US, appoints a puppet-dictator
Alexi Romanov in order to keep the peace and help the defeated Russian people recover. In
reality he holds no real power, a simple pawn for the Allies' interests. Or is he?
Portrayed to the world as a consummate
politician, founding an organization called the World Socialist Alliance to assist in the
development of third-world countries. Over time the WSA grew to have a number of prominent
members, including Mexico, Cuba and Ukraine, Romanov is shown as the perfect leader, one
who shows love and respect for his people and, most importantly, earning the respect from
the west.
But all this is a disguise, a cloak
hiding Romanov's true feelings. Deep down he burns with the hatred of the west, he cannot
bring himself to think about the things the Allies and US do to run his beautiful country.
He detests the arrogant and cocky attitude of the US peacekeepers in Russia while they
trample over his soil and make themselves right at home. For nearly twenty years he plans
and schemes, trying to devise a plan to rid his homeland of the western influence and
strike at the heart of the US itself. As time passes the WSA grows and, while being seen
as a benevolent organization, it is really a puppet guise for Romanov to bring back
together a network of communist allies in the hopes of dominating the western world his
predecessor failed to accomplish.
In the late 1970's, Romanov is finally
given the opportunity he has been looking for, he is secretly contacted by Yuri from
within the Chinese government, and is informed that he was successful at forming a Soviet
government within China and keeping information of it from spreading to the west. it's
army is prepared and ready to fight as soon as Romanov gives the order. He is overjoyed to
see the progress made within China, and uses the neutral status of the country to
redevelop his own army assisted by the WSA right under the US's nose. He employs his
original design team to improve past technological designs used in the last war, while
Yuri forms a large psychic army of his own all with superior mental capabilities, ready
and willing to fight for the Soviet cause.
Romanov is given the perfect opportunity
to strike when a civil war breaks out in Mexico. Using his WSA status, he sends over a
large part of his army in order to protect WSA interests. This works, the US is fooled
into believing this ruse, and there is a key opening to attack it. As soon as Romanov
gives the word, Yuri uses his enhanced troops and abilities to shut down American
early-warning systems and suppress the American peacekeeping team in Russia. Before the US
has time to react, the ground troops push up through Mexico, and the WSA ruse is removed,
revealing massive attack forces arriving from Cuba, Ukraine and China by closing in on all
sides of the US coast. The invasion is swift, and the US is quickly overcome by the
reformed Soviet empire. Romanov sends out a message to the Allies in Europe warning them
not to interfere for risk to be attacked themselves.
When the Soviet army takes over
Washington DC and forces the US leaders out of their own country victory appears to be in
Romanov's grasp. Unfortunately for him though, the Allies disregarded his warning and
assisted the US in retaking many of its cities, they also supplied the US with enhanced
technology developed by Einstein since the last war. If that wasn't enough, Yuri turned on
his leader and began to stage a coup d'etat of his own to become master of the entire
world. If it were not for the timely arrival of Romanov's own troops from the future using
a stolen Allied device, his dream would have ended there. Now he is armed with fresh
information and technology in hopes of achieving both his original goal and the new Yuri
threat...
