« YURI'S REVENGE: SQUARED »
IFV COMBINATIONS

As you know, the special ability of our IFV unit allows it's weapon to change in accordance to the infantry unit inside it.  Unfortunately we have had a number of issues with making sure we were getting results that were worth the cost of using these units.

As a result we have both made a variety of changes to the existing combination software and added in a few brand new ones to suit the infantry changes our enemies have made lately.  Pay attention everyone, as I detail these changes and update you on what infantry triggers the changes:

IFV COMBO TABLE

Mode

Infantry Needed Description
(default)

Quad Cannon: I'm sure you remember that I explained our basic weapon change back when we discussed the IFV in context with the rest of our vehicles.  If you need a refresher on these changes, feel free to review the transcripts of the earlier parts of the briefing.

Engineer

Repair Arm: Many people underestimate the amount of value one of these IFV types makes to an attacking force.  Unlike using a Service Depot, it repairs units for free and at a much quicker speed.  The IFV's quick driving speed also allows it to evade enemy fire easier than the targets it's usually repairing, but be careful of its weak protection.  We have made some advancements in the field of mobile repair technology lately, in which Elite IFV's with an Engineer inside now repair things at a much faster rate then before.

GI
Conscript
Initiate
Spy
Agent

Machine Gun: This basic IFV combo has eliminated the need for any separate Ranger or Humm-Vee style vehicle in our armies.  The Machine Gun it fires is still a beefed up version of the GI and Conscript weapons so it remains just as effective against infantry.  Due to the nature of Yuri's Initiate changes, we can no longer use our older specific Initiate weapon when an Initiate was inside, so instead we have made it use this same combo, freeing up space inside for a more useful replacement as you will see in a moment.

Flak Trooper

Flak Cannon: The Flak combo of our IFV is the first of ones that are only available should we obtain the technology of our enemies.  Of course we not only obtain it but we also improve it, and as such the Flak IFV's cannon remains the most powerful land version of the weapon.  At least put the dated technology to good use here.

Graphical Enhancement: Turret has been changed to a more appropriate image.

Navy SEAL
Chrono Commando
Psi Commando

Heavy Machine Gun: As our SEAL weapon specifications have changed as mentioned earlier, we have modified the IFV's combo weapon to suit.  It has moved away from its role as an anti-infantry machine gun to become a heavier version of the machine gun detailed earlier.  This version boasts stronger firepower and a quicker delivery rate.  Try it for yourself and see.

Graphical Enhancement: Turret is now an altered version of the standard Machine Gun turret.

Sniper

Sniper Turret: The Sniper and Virus combos are now the only dedicated anti-infantry ones remaining.  While it limits us in that regard, it has at least given the British some room for improvement.  The Sniper's increased knowledge of Terror Drone operations have been transferred to the IFV computer, making this version able to instantly acquire and destroy Terror Drones at any time.

Graphical Enhancement: Turret has been changed to a more appropriate image.

Tesla Trooper

Tesla Cannon: As the Soviet's continue to develop and deploy their Tesla technology throughout their army, it becomes easier and easier for us to procure Tesla technology in battle to utilize this combo nicely.  While not nearly as powerful as Russia's unique Tesla Tank, it has a significantly quicker recharge rate and longer range (it equals the elite Tesla Tank's attack as the longest of all mobile Tesla weapons.)  One of the most effective anti-infantry combos indeed.

Graphical Enhancement: Turret has been changed to a more appropriate image.

Crazy Ivan
Chrono Ivan

Dynamite Launcher: This new IFV combo was created solely to suit Crazy Ivan's new abilities (and replace the old suicide weapon).  Low tech but effective, Ivan simply loads his dynamite packs into the launcher and boom!  The automated launcher allows for much greater impact velocity and quicker reload times so this will show should you be lucky to obtain Ivan technology to use.

Graphical Enhancement: Turret has been changed to a more appropriate image.

Psi-Corp Trooper

Mind Blast Hub: This certainly was an easy combo to implement into our software.  Since the unique mind blast ability is native to the Psi Corp infantry themselves, all we had to do was provide the hub for them to project the wave from the inside out.  The calmer, more controlled environment inside the vehicle allows the trooper to concentrate better, so while it's mind blast is slightly weaker, he is able to project it much more often with quicker recovery time to discharge another.  You should not see much difference here in the way this combo operates to what you're used to.

Graphical Enhancement: Turret has been changed to a more appropriate image.

Desolator

Radiation Emitter: It is rare they we obtain the technology necessary to gain the use of this IFV combo, so we have not concentrated our efforts to improve this weapon in any way.  However, it still remains a more powerful and faster version of the Desolator's personnel weapon, so use this wherever possible.

Graphical Enhancement: Turret has been changed to a more appropriate image.

Chrono Legionnaire

Chrono Emitter: Probably one of our more popular combo's available; while the IFV cannot teleport around normally, a Chrono Legionnaire can instantly go inside one of these units from anywhere across the map, making the unit a good protective shell for them.  The changes detailed earlier on the Legionnaire's Chrono weapon to fix some technical issues are also in effect here: so like the standard weapon, Chrono IFV's can now fire through walls.

Graphical Enhancement: Turret has been changed to a more appropriate image.

Terrorist

Nuke Storage: With the elimination of the Crazy Ivan demolition combo, the Terrorist IFV is now the only suicide-type weapon available to us.  Instead of keeping the Terrorist style demolition weapon, we have chosen to mix the terrorist bombs in with radiological material to create an explosion very similar to the old scrapped Ivan combo.  The damage of the explosion is not as severe as the old Terrorist bomb, but it affects a larger radius and also irradiates the ground for a short period of time.  Think of it as a mini-Demolition Truck.

Graphical Enhancement: Turret has been changed to a more appropriate image.

Gattling Gunner

Gattling Turret: We have now determined that a unique IFV combo is opened up if one of Yuri's new Gattling Trooper infantry get inside one.  The Gattling Cannon here differs from the turret on Yuri's Gattling Tank in that, like the Gunner himself, it does not speed up over time.  It fires at a relatively stable pace which is more powerful than the Gattling Tank's first stage of attack, and on the par with it's second stage.  Obviously now this means the IFV gets another anti-infantry and anti-aircraft combo to go along with it's default configuration.

Mortar Troop

Mortar Launcher: Placing Yuri's new Mortar Troop inside an IFV and you get the one and only combo (excluding the special hero combo) that can render it a very effective Siege unit.  It fires the exact same type of projectiles the normal infantry does, which means it is devastating to large groups of infantry, and still effective against light and heavy armor.  With it being inside a mobile platform, the IFV version of the weapon sacrifices range (now similar to the Howitzer) for the ability to fire quicker, releasing two canisters for every round.

Virus

Virus Sniper Turret: Compared with the Sniper combo, this weapon similar in its capabilities.  However, while having a shorter range and longer reload rate, you must remember it packs the same poisonous serum that the Virus is infamous for.  Like the Virus unit herself, we have improved the targeting computer so that this weapon will only ever fire on infantry (targets it can kill) even when under fire from other target types.  That has been done to make the IFV able to completely serve its purpose in the field without any distractions.

Graphical Enhancement: Turret is now an altered version of the standard Sniper turret.

Guardian GI

Missile Launcher: Since a missile-based combo is now less common due to introduction of the Quad Cannon, we have spent some time improving this combo to serve as a 'best of both worlds' type combo incorporating all things good about the two previous missile weapons.  Not only does this weapon remain effective against enemy armor, but the warheads now contain anti-personal shrapnel expenders making them very effective against infantry and even somewhat effective against structures.

Graphical Enhancement: Turret is now an altered version of the standard IFV turret.

Tanya
Volkov
Chitzkoi
Khamsin
Clint Eastwood
Arnold Schwarzenegger
Sylvester Stallone

Cluster Missile Launcher: After much debate, it was decided that we would indeed replace the special edition IFV combo (known informally as the 'Cow Shot combo') with something more practical both in availability and usefulness.  This new combo is designed to work with the knowledge of our finest soldiers - by firing a single missile to fly over the target, where it then explodes and rains down a bunch of smaller 'clusters' onto and around the target dealing extensive damage to a wide area.  This is a perfect option to crack open defensive perimeters, as it outranges even the Grand Cannon and V3 Rocket Launcher.

Graphical Enhancement: Turret is now an altered version of the standard Cow Shot turret.

With our IFV discussion completed, the next part of the briefing will focus on the infantry obtained when infiltrating enemy Technology Labs.  There are some major changes there, so let's go.
