« YURI'S REVENGE: SQUARED »
CIVILIAN CHANGES |
|
Now, while we
aren't exactly in charge of what goes on in nature or in our
civilian cities, I have discovered that many of you do not even know
how to utilise nearby civilian and natural units to aid in your war
effort. Believe it or not, some of them can be quite useful in
support and assault roles.
Collectively, all
civilian units you spot now give you experience should you
destroy/kill them in proportion to their usefulness and/or
deadliness in the field. In a similar manner, grinding these
units also vary logically, with more powerful or useful units giving
you more cash back.
(Players no
longer have to worry about Presidents being the source for quick
cash. Sorry cheaters!) |

Cow |
What could this
reconnaissance photo mean? I realise critics have
been warning of a buildup of methane gas emissions for
some time now, but this just looks ridiculous!
Could Yuri have been experimenting with these helpless
cows to destabilize their bowel movements? You
must find out Commanders!

|
Other Animals |
Remember, most animals you will encounter (both past and
present day) in the terrain as you battle will be wild
and will attack with anything they have if they are
provoked or hungry. The severity of their attacks
and their strength vary depending on the type of animal
you are facing, with the larger ones even able to
assault vehicles and structures! Generally you
wouldn't consider some of these threats, but I
understand how nervous you might get seeing one of the
more dangerous animals go wandering through your base.

|
Civilians |
As the
war drags on, more and more civilians are finding it
necessary to arm themselves. We try our best to
protect these innocent people, but the Soviets invaded
us in our own country, so tempers and paranoia are
understandably high. Civilian attacks range from
highly trained government agents dealing Uzi and Pistol
damage on the par with standard troops, to those redneck
Texans and their revolvers. Even some basic
civilians have pistols, although you wouldn't find them
too much of a threat unless you're already injured.
Firearm experience plays a key role in how much damage
their attacks do.

Celebrity Heroes |
"Some of these Hollywood Civilians are pretty tough
characters." ― General Carville
The
General sure wasn't kidding. These celebrity
actors are just as powerful as any hero unit we can
muster, although their specialties are more localized
within a particular group: Gunslinger Clint
Eastwood excels are picking off infantry with his custom
S&W Revolver, Arnold Schwarzenegger can mow through both
infantry and vehicles with his huge explosive chain gun,
and Sylvester Stallone comes packed with a combo Machine
Gun/Grenade Launcher to take out infantry and structures
alike.
Graphical Enhancements: Clint Eastwood now has his own
unique image instead of sharing a common Texan outfit.
Sound Enhancements: All three heroes have their original
voices restored from the pre-v1.001 game. |

Cars |
Civilian Cars of all sorts litter the streets of the
abandoned cities and also illustrate the stubbornness of
some of our country's citizens to remain where they are
even against all odds. If you're ever in need of a
quick, cheap transport, these could work quite well.
Their capacity varies depending on the size of the
vehicle, but are all pretty nimble so don't expect them
to last long in battle.
|
 |
|
Vans & Trucks |
Both
Vans and Trucks generally behave in the same way as cars,
but are usually slower and with increased transport
capacity. Some are even able to carry the larger
Brutes and Terror/Chaos Drones! The one exception
here is the Garbage Truck which serves a much more
valued purpose in the field. By 'deploying' the
Truck, you basically turn it into a mobile Yuri Grinder
where you can send anything, from tanks to (god forbid)
human beings, to get some or all of their value back in
cash. Garbage Truck's can be deployed anywhere on
clear ground, but cannot be undeployed again after
deployed. It will remain in that spot until
destroyed.
|
 |
|
Busses |
Busses
also function as transports, but they boast the highest
capacity loads of all civilian vehicles. The
largest Bus: the Double Decker, can fit in a whopping 10
passengers (less if some are Brutes or Terror/Chaos
Drones)! Fully loaded Busses can leave behind
quite a nasty surprise if used right...

Construction |
This
country was built on the courage and commitment of our
construction workers, and their vehicles are their
tools. Their roles are varied should you obtain
them: Excavators and Backhoe Loaders function as Miners,
while Bulldozers can be 'deployed' and other base
structures can be built off of it (think of it as
another MCV, but it cannot undeploy). Finally,
Dump Trucks are very unique in that they store cash
reserves in their storage area instead of passengers,
where that cash is then safe from Spies or other threats
to Refineries. When built, you pay a large extra
premium which is the cash that goes inside it, and at
any time you may choose to 'deploy' it, destroying the
Dump Truck and revealing the money in a crate which can
be recollected (by any side mind you, so make sure it's
close-by.) This unit could also be useful in
transferring funds to allies in team battles. Take
note that if you destroy a Dump Truck before it has time
to prep it's cargo, the money contained will also be
lost.

Emergency |
Local
Emergency vehicles can't usually do much when up against
enemy armies, but they can still support us in our
efforts to resist invasion. Police Cars, Armored
Cars, SWAT Vans and Fire Trucks act as transports from
their appropriate sections described earlier (although
boasting faster speed and stronger armor in places.)
Ambulances on the other hand are quite useful for our
forces, as they are the only vehicle, both civilian or
otherwise, that can drive around patching up our
infantry troops, almost instantly healing the injured
back to full health. To have an Ambulance in your
base is the best way to keep your infantry forces
refreshed and ready for battle.

 |
|
Trains |
The
joys of public transport. Without this reliable
system, many of our passenger and cargo services would
never run. It's the train networks that surround
most developed countries that help maintain our war
effort, so don't be surprised if they become
mission-critical units in upcoming missions, or you see
them and stations nearby during skirmish battles.
|
 |
|
Miscellaneous |
There
are of course many other types of civilian vehicles in
the cities around the world, and many of them can have
beneficial uses for your armies. Among some of
these are RV's, Tractors and Cable Cars which can carry
passengers (in which RV and Jeep passengers can fire out from the
inside like a Battle Fortress) and V3 Transports that serve as
Demolition Trucks by detonating their stored V3
warheads. |

That completes the briefing Commanders. Now that you are
familiar with everything you should see on the battlefield, it is
time to go out there and fight for your country! For freedom!
Continue the
overall briefing with an explanation on the changes to various game
setup options.
