 It is 1946, one year after the horror that was World War II finally
came to an end with the defeat of Japanese and German forces. With millions of people dead
and the world economy in ruins, German-born scientist Albert Einstein decided that he had
to do something to reverse the bloodshed that has occurred and hopefully making the world
a better place to live. Based in Trinity, New Mexico, Einstein developed a Time Machine
called a 'Chronosphere' that would allow him to go back in time to wipe out Hitler from
the timeline before he had a chance to build up his Nazi party. His invention worked
perfectly, he was able to travel to Landsburg, Germany in the year 1924, and was
successful at locating and eliminating Hitler.
Unfortunately his actions had unseen
consequences, with Hitler out of the way the timeline was altered. Indeed World War II
never occurred, after the defeat of the Germans which signaled the end of World War I, the
Allied Powers of the time were determined never to let something like this happen again.
They took over leadership of Europe and formed the European Alliance, the modern Allies we
see today. Germany, who was due to be taken over by a fascist government, instead
surrendered its old ways and became a democracy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire still
split into many independent nations. By 1924 when Josef Stalin came to power, almost the
whole of Europe was united in the common goal of peace.
But for every action there is a reaction:
The USSR, which wanted nothing to do with the new alliance, remained in isolation. The
Allies had no idea that it was planning to invade Europe, and so life remained the same
for over forty years. Einstein, having no conception of what his counterpart did to cause
this timeline, continued the same line of work and started on the Chronosphere once again,
only this time he concentrated the work on something other than time travel, since he
didn't feel the need for it.
This lasting peace the Allies brought
upon Europe was shattered in 1962, Stalin announced to the European countries that he has
a dream of a continental empire, and that he intends to see to it that it comes true. A
massive Soviet invasion began to take place, the united Allies were quick to strike back,
and so began the second great war. It was quick but brutal, and after a few months the
Allies were able to push back the Soviet force into Russia and took the capital Moscow
with the help of supplies from outside sources like the United States and Einstein's
completed Chronosphere device which enabled instant teleportation of matter. Stalin died
when his palace collapsed on him, and the Allies celebrated another victory.
After Stalin's defeat the recovering
Allies, who requested help from the US to provide aid to help them, decided they needed to
do something about the leaderless Russia. They found a successor in the form of Alexi
Romanov. He seemed like the perfect candidate, a member of the World Socialist Alliance,
he openly preached the good wills of the Allies and US and they eagerly took him in as the
new puppet leader of Russia.
Although it all seemed too good to be
true, and it was. For over 15 years the free world knew nothing of Romanov's inner hatred,
and the Allied and US settled down into peace once again. Europe slowly began to take away
responsibility for Russia, and just as slowly the US took up the task. Over time current
US President Michael Dugan began to relax his countries intense watches over the communist
nation which proved to be the wrong move. When a civil war breaks out in Mexico in
mid-1979 and Romanov sends his own troops in to help quell the violence and unrest in the
fellow WSA member country, Dugan thought nothing of it.
Soon afterward began the first of a
number of puzzling problems with security and defense in the US. First their early-warning
system shuts down, then they begin to lose contact with all of their in-country agents in
Russia. Finally, the alarm sounds, Soviet troops have suddenly poured out of Mexico and
pushing up through the southern coast, Cuban troops have invaded the Florida coast, and a
massive navel fleet is closing in on both the East and the West from China and Africa. In
response to this Dugan orders a Nuclear Strike on the enemy strongholds, but nothing
happens, their entire ballistic missile system has been shut down from the inside.
The full picture of the Soviet invasion
is soon revealed, they have made horrific developments in war technology over the past 17
years including psychically-enhanced troops, mindless drones and controlled Giant Squids
to assault the US forces. Romanov's chief advisor, the psychic master Yuri, claims
responsibility for shutting down nearly all of their automatic defense systems, while
Romanov continues to guide his troops through US soil, even capturing the White House
forcing military leaders to retreat to Canada. It appears as though the US is at their
mercy, until the Allied nations of Europe are persuaded to join their fight, and the
self-approved assistance of Korea help turn the tide in their favor. Germany lets the US
use Einstein once again to help design their own high-tech weaponry in order to counter
the invading forces, including his updated Chronosphere, high-speed railgun systems and
Weather Control technology. Finally it appears they are fighting on even ground.
Further complications arise soon
afterward, first with the defection of Yuri from the Soviet force stealing a number of
previous Soviet units and structures helps the Allies' cause greatly, but doesn't do them
any favors when Yuri demonstrates he detests the Allies just as much as the Soviets do.
Then, out of the blue, an Allied force arrives from the future and explains the world they
came from the Allies defeated the Soviet Invasion, but yet once again Yuri slipped through
the fingers of the victors and began his own maniacal path of destruction. They convince
Dugan to bring out all the stops to defeat the Soviets and, more importantly, the new Yuri
army before it gets underway. The war has finally begun in its earnest...
