What do you think should happen regarding AI in v1.0? [146 votes total]
  • Keep 6% And Delay Release (59)
  • Reduce AI Enhancements to Compensate (87)

Some Fan Comments:

  • Snakebite: First off, I think that the AI should be done properly even if this pushes back the release date. We've all waited this long, what harm would it do to wait until the mod is finished. Secondly, I know this will probably sound pretty stupid... but ...can't you use some of the AI coding from MooRules v3.0. I realise that you would have to change a fair bit (unit names, build ratios etc) but wouldn't that cut down on the amount of coding you needed to do?
  • Nology5890: It doesn't matter if the AI's good, just get it to an acceptable level. Then you can take your 4-week L. o. A., and all the people who keep bitching about getting the mod done can shut up. Then, after your leave of absence, you can come back feeling refreshed, you can add the awesome AI for the next release. Yes, the mod won't be to everyone's expectations, but they'll have to deal with it. Or, you could call your friends at Revora for help. ;)
You do realize how long it will take Mooman to code on his own, don't you? I would love to see it with finished AI, but 1) That would take months to code for one person, and 2) Mooman needs a break. If he releases it with partially complete AI, then it would be a great deal of weight off his shoulders, and he could go on his little 4 week excursion, then come back refreshed and ready to finish the AI. He then could release a patch to fix the AI. If he releases it sooner, then he can take a break, and will be refreshed for the next fixes.
  • Altecast: Wow. More people voted for it to be out sooner and not as great as the original. I can't believe people are so inpatient, this is free you know, he DOESN'T HAVE TO DO IT, and yet your all pushing moo to do it. For the people who voted for it to be fully complete, I thank you.
  • justaconscript: I think in the interest of time, you should release the mod with basic AI coding and then code the AI up to the standards you were originally hoping for for the v1.1 release. All the new units will keep the masses happy. mumble...bread and circuses...mumble
AI that kicks human can is not critical! He is talking about releasing v1.0 with YR AI, plus a little extra, and then, once he has had a chance to relax, he will recode YR2 to meet his original expectations! We can wait a few months with basic AI for V1.1 to come out, you forget all about the other great stuff he put in.
  • Moula: People - wait. The AI is one of the most important aspects of the game - don't release the modification without it properly finished - that's just wrong....
  • DoMoNiC_HuNtEr: The AI is critical! We need a good AI. I don't mind if I have to wait a bit longer.
  • SwampThing: I don't know what everyone's on about. Moo never said he wouldn't do ANY coding, just not as much. The AI will be improved, but not to the point Moo wants it at (the point where the AI kicks human butt). Personally, I can live with a cut short version until Moo's back from his break and actually has the time to do this. Besides, I'll only be using the AI to test the new units on for the first few weeks, until I get the hang of them. When the AI is further improved after that we can really get going. See it as a warming up, the first step to something bigger. :)
  • The_Brane: I think... Mooman should release the 'unfinished' MOD/AI so that the users can test it out, and submit strategies for the AI to be used in an 'update' for the AI when he has more time. Do you 'know' what I'm 'saying'? ....."Laaser".... :D
  • dierag: I want YR2 to be done at its fullest, so the A.I is finished fully, it makes the mod better, even though it might take till August, ill gladly wait.
  • Spikey00: According to my comment, I greatly think that the AI is extremely important, unless yuu guys can somehow compensate with a patch like someone said in the shoutbox (I think O_o) that brings the AI up to date. But anyways, I hear everyone's comments about the AI, and the reason is pretty obvious.
  • Wrath: Here's what I think about the AI issue: See, Mooman should do the AI... To a level where it is accepted and a challenge on, let's say, Hard mode. Remember, people, that there are later releases, and the AI could be massively improved then. It doesn't need to go all killer on you in the first public beta, but it needs to use the new units as well as old units in more effective ways. There's actually got to be a chance that a human player may LOSE against a Brutal AI (by that I mean the more experienced players).
  • Clazzy: I think it's vitally important that you keep working on the AI, that way you can have a much more rounded release. Crippling the AI isn't the way forward, so try and see if you can get it done. Is there nobody else who is capable and willing of finishing it off for you, though?
  • GIKane: Mooman did not say that if he releases in schedule, he won't improve the AI. So why not release it in schedule and distribute the improved AI version later on?
