How should YR˛ continue being made? [128 votes total]
  • Change the goals to suit a more realistic sense. (48)
  • Just carry on as you're going now. (47)
  • I don't mind either way. (34)

Some Fan Comments:

  • Levi@th@n-Spir@l_Dre@m: As said, you've got your ideas for how you want YR2 to be. And you've also said that your last mod diverted from how you wanted it. Therefore the best thing you can do is to not divert this mod too much from what you have planned. I've seen your ideas list. It's excellent and will make a damn good mod as it is. Realism usually makes bad things happen. True War did it, and it didn't wholly work out for them. Generals isn't realistic at all but it still boasted the moniker of realistic and fudged it up. So I say just keep it as it's going. Don't take no crap from anyone saying that it's not realistic enough or whatever, 'cause that's not what C&C is about :P That's not saying to go berserk and add loads of weird stuff that simply kills off the game (and I know you won't do that ^_- ) but you have plenty of freedom: Use it!
  • Clazzy: You should stick to as much realism that's possible. It worked well for the frst two C&C games, everything in Tiberian Dawn is possible in real life (with the exception of the ion cannon satellite's weapon) and as you said the Chronosphere, Iron Curtain and Tesla Coil in RA1. They were still great fun and were probably more popular than RA2/YR. If you go with realism then you can use certain pieces of code like the Psychic Dominator in different ways instead of it being soley used for Yuri's mind control techniques. This also includes the IFV, (I had this idea) you can replace it with a normal tank but has a mountable weapon which the passenger can fire with.
  • Jeremiah S. Bradley: I have to agree with frostbite. the tech in this game for the most part are true research projects for the most part. thoug i do not agree with the time shift stuff or the iron curtain stuff but the weather controle is for a fact real. a young man at ucla is working on a laser that can make a storm cloud disburs bolts at a determind target. now at this point it dose not have any millitary sugnificants it is still a real poject. well hope this sheds some light on the subject........and sorry for the spelling errors
  • frost bite: mooman, u said that that the new technology isn't based on real things. Let me just say this: it is! In case you didn't know, the Soviets did spend lots of money in researching children with psychic powers. Prism technology is based on carbon dioxide lasers that really can cut. Genetic Mutation is based on all those genetically modified crops out there. I mean, the ppl at westwood didn't just invent all this stuff...they based it on real things!!!
  • mavarino: I wish that mod countiues like before(answer 2).
  • assassyn: now that i think about it prism tanks do suck. they dont have to deploy to fire, their reload time is minimal and the beams cant get shot by defenses like a v3 can i hate that!! maybe u should create some long range artillery piece that has to deploy to shoot like a siege weapon of some sort, like the artillery mech in tiberian sun or somethin , except make it a legitimate weapon like an m109 paladin or an m198 howitzer that can be towed by a troop truck or by a tank. that'd make for some interesting battles i think.
  • T_ROCK: hey, i just gott say that i loved the last mod u made u added country specific units and the buildings were very useful in battle. in yr squared i think you should add some air power for russia and its allies because i enjoyed the Yaks and migs from ra1 and they added another element of gameplay. one thing abuot the last mod... i hated the parabomb option the koreans had because that plane had a ton of hit points and the bombs did tons of damage, if u put them in scale down the damage a little bit?? these are only suggestions. u are the man w/ the plan and the skill so.... fire away and im sure anything u create will kickass
  • Frodo: I Tried C&C Generals, it is SO bouring because it is realistic. So I DO NOT think it is a good idea to make it realistic. If you want to make a realistic version of RA2/YR, why not make it as another mod, in that way we all would be happy.
