First Screenshots!

- MooMan65

September 27, 2004

It's that word! Yes! Thanks to the beta testers taking screenshots as they test the game, you're now able to see parts of the mod in action! Don't get too excited yet though since after all this beta concentrates only on unit and structure additions. There's only so much you can see that's new in a screenshot right now. Let's hope it changes as the major features are completed!

Anyway, the Screenshots page has been added to the lefthand sidebar and so far there is a set of three for you to view! Showing my evil side, the enemy of the player playing this game is Yuri and you can even see some of Yuri's new additions! Don't count on seeing any official explanations of these things yet heheh! That's still to come. Until then, speculate all you want.

More to come later. Click on the thumbnails below to head to the screenshots page:

Status Report

- MooMan65

September 19, 2004

I hope everyone's enjoying the new look of the site, plus the reading of the briefing pages I have up. Just thought I'd give a little report back on what's happened since the beta release.

The testers have been hard at work playing around with the mod and many things, some little, some major, have been fixed or being worked on right now. Personally I'm very glad I decided to go through a proper beta-testing phase this time around as opposed to MooRules previously. You guys would not have liked to play the original Beta 1 when it was uploaded. Thanks though with me including the .INI files loose in the directory instead of inside a .MIX file I can supply regular updates of just the .INI's to the testers to fix bugs. Easy on my modem, and to their enjoyment of testing so bugs can be fixed before a new official Beta version comes out.

Speaking of the new Beta; now that the initial rush of bugs have been dealt with, things are settling down allowing me to start work on the first lot of major things I have planned for the mod. As things get finalised in the beta I will be releasing more info on here, I don't want to do anything now as it's not set in stone exactly what might work out or not in the mod itself. Some of these features are rather iffy in the way of how well the game will handle them. Plus the Soviet and Yuri briefings will come out seperatly amongst all this other info. So far I have not thought about exactly which stage I want the mod to be at where it is ready for the public to play. I will see how things go in time.

So yes. Plenty of work being done. Balance and bug issues are being rooted out by the testers, new features are being planned by me, and all you people are still welcome to post suggestions, comments, queries and anything else you wish on the forums.

YR: Squared v1.0 Beta 1 & New Layout Released!

- MooMan65

September 15, 2004

After god knows how many delays, YR: Squared v1.0 Beta 1 has been released to the beta-testing team! And for once I actually release it ahead of my planned deadline of this weekend! Surprise! From this point on development will increase due to more people than just myself involved in the creation of the mod.

As you can also see the new MooMan's Corner layout is online and the YR: Squared information pages have begun to appear! Unlike what I mentioned in previous newsposts, only the Allied Briefing is online currently. The Soviet and Yuri briefings will be released in that order in the times to come. Just to keep the hype going. Until then thought enjoy the new layout and the info pages that ARE up for you to read. And look forward to new info in the future!

Don't be surprised if you maybe see a few glitches around the site as most likely I'm still working in the new layout and/or tweaking parts of it.

*sigh* In typical fashion, I had planned to release the first private beta along with the new website layout but conveniently the virus that has been plaguing me for months now (proving a pain in the rear to clear out) decided to strike last night and literally killed both of the comps. As a result I backed up anything that was non-executable (so don't worry guys, the mod is saved) and did a duel reformat to make sure the virus could not migrate via the network like it did before when I reformatted the computers one at a time when I first got the second computer last month.

So yes, the day which I planned to finish everything became the day in which I had to reformat and reinstall everything. I'm still no where near back up and running fully but at least all the things I was working on previously have been saved. Needless to say the beta will be delayed yet again, but hopefully not for very long. Let's try next weekend.
