| Site Updates! | | - MooMan65 | June 28, 2005 | Since last Thursday when my exams were completed I have been working non-stop on getting Beta 2 of YR˛ out to the testers! That event is due in a few days, hopefully by the weekend, but for now I've done a couple of updates on the existing information pages to include a number of things Beta 2 changes/adds over Beta 1.
I'll save the biggest change to last, so first there are a few cameo changes worth mentioning here. In fact every cameo (official and mod added) has been altered in some way, most commonly to rebevel them to a consistant standard, but I'll let you scan through the pages yourself to see them. There are a few major changes however, with the original cameo on the left and the new one on the right:
->
->
->
-> The first three just donate improved cameos I designed while going over the graphics I had already done, while the last one is more of a logical change than anything. Quick history lesson: Originally Westwood was planning to make Prism beams travel along Prism Tower networks, presumably so that power is increased every time the beam passes through another Tower. But for whatever reasons they had, before the final release of the game they changed the logic to what it is today with no actual travelling, just with nearby towers boosting up a single one. The Prism Tower cameo however was never changed to represent the current state as to how Prism Towers work, so I have done that in YR˛ just to be conceptually correct.
Next, we have a few unit graphic adjustments:
->
-> Gotta love these preview shots eh? Sure you can't see them exactly as they will be in-game, but you can get a fair idea. The first change was actually done long ago with a kind contribution from InfraID of a Stealth Fighter voxel that actually matched the cameo I was using, while the second is a modification of the Allied Battleship I did myself to also make it match up more closely with it's chosen cameo. If you're wondering, yes, it is indeed using the Soviet Dreadnaught's base, so what is the Dreadnaught now using? Well, you'll find out soon when I release the Soviet Vehicles page!
Finally, a brand new addition to Allied bases! The new Power Turbine Upgrade gives Allied players with a much needed advanced power option in later stages of the game! It behaves in the same way as GDI's Turbine Upgrade in Tiberian Sun, so old school players will have no trouble understanding its use here. For the details, go here to read all about it! But not just yet! As you'll miss a preview right here of a normal Power Plant in comparison to an upgraded one!

I don't think I need to tell you which is which heh, so this is where I leave you for now. I've still got lots of holiday left, and with Beta 2 later this week will come the Soviet Vehicles page for the rest of you! Until then...
| I've Been Interviewed! | | - MooMan65 | June 18, 2005 | Yay! More community news! And something else for you people to do! Flak of affiliate C&C Depot has interviewed yours truely about all sorts of things, including MODDEN, MooMan's Rules, YR˛ and the community in general right here. So if you want to catch up on the history of myself and my projects, it's a good read.
Here's some cheesy hype too!
Flak: Anything you'd like to add?
MooMan65: Oh yeah! Come the end of my exam period; expect a LOT of development on the mod! Who knows? There may be more to come than just YR˛ as well... Stay tuned!

| Explanation & Update | | - MooMan65 | June 11, 2005 | Not that it's very different around here when it comes to the time in between newsposts, but I should let you all know that my exams start next week, so over the next two weeks I will not even be thinking of what I need work on for YR˛! Afterwards though our Winter break begins which is four weeks of pure holiday. Things'll speed up very nicely during that time.
Since the last newspost up until this point, I've basically been working on finishing up the Stolen Tech infantry for Beta 2. I've almost finished actually, only one more infantry unit left to do. Once that is done, and Khamsin is added in to replace Yuri Prime, the new beta will be packaged and released to the testers (about time!) along with a bunch of new info pages for the rest of ya. Expect that to happen within the first week of my four week holiday, but no promises!
