| It's All Over! | | - MooMan65 | June 18, 2004 | The 18th has arrived and my last exam just finished! Apart from going to work I'm free for the next four weeks! So of course that means heavy duty work on YR˛ and other commitments I have on here.
What will happen is I will concentrate mostly on getting the basic unit and structure changes/additions done first as that's the basis of any mod, fire that out to the beta testers who can find balance and bug issues with them while I continue with the more intense, major features of the mod that will require a lot of development time. I want to be able to have as many of the features I had planned for the mod in there for the first public beta so YR˛ makes as big an impact as it can, rather than get people bored of it as they wait ages for new features and then get tired with the existing ones so they stop playing it altogether.
I've drafted out the versions I have planned along with what I plan to feature in them, so it's just a matter of sticking with that agenda. I want to try to get the first beta out in this four week break so the testers end up knowing who they are and get stuck into something productive on the mod while I end up going back to University. That's just the plan though, and you know how often they can change in the modding world.
So what will the public get while the beta's are in the works? Well for the most part updates on here. The first beta will feature mainly unit and structure modifications, so when that is out all the information pages on the mod will be uploaded so you can read about what's being tested. Then as time goes on with more beta's released that bring about new features and modifications to previous beta's, the pages will be updated. Of course I will also set up an Under Development page and keep you informed that way as it seems to work rather well with fellow C-GEN mod CannisRules having Development reports on the newspage and such with teaser screenshots. I'll also try to get the beta-group to take screenshots whenever they can to build up a library. Screenshots will be most helpful when a number of the major features are in the game.
So I plan to be very busy! I've got YR˛ to work on and I'm helping another mod group with their terrain graphics, which is good as I'm parallel developing their terrain with mine so I'm working on two mods with the same amount of time being used up. Hope to have another update soon!
| E-Mail Change | | - MooMan65 | June 14, 2004 | | Just a quick not to all my cncgames.com email has been changed. Over the past few weeks I was literally getting 300+ Spam Messages EVERY time I checked my email, even if those checks were 5 seconds apart! As such if you had sent an email to my old @cncgames.com account in the last couple weeks I probably never got it. My email has been updated in the Contact Page so you can resend it to the new address. Thanks all. | |
| It's That Time Again!... | | - MooMan65 | June 8, 2004 | ...When exams grace my presence. Just when you think it's all over after successfully getting into University this year suddenly you have more exams in order to keep you there! Surely there's a better way of testing our knowledge than relying our entire future in a paper be based upon your actions in two hours!? That's life I suppose.
But the great news is after that I have four weeks of total freedom! With it being winter here and the fact that you can't have any homework in a Semester break it's four weeks of perfect time to do what I enjoy doing! And that includes YR˛! I don't know how much I can get done on it, but I hope to be able to get at least one beta out so people can finally begin to test the damn thing. Plus get up the actual juicey information on the mod for the general public!
The current poll is turning out to be interesting too... Generals and RA2/YR both seem to be attracting big amounts of voters and it's basically not helped me one bit in helping me decide whatever to do in the future. But that's still a long way off; and I thank people for their contribution in letting me know what they think, as it's given me more leverage in deciding how my choice will affect people. It sure may be taking a long time to make, but after the first public release I will be looking for something else to do in addition to maintaining YR˛. Your feedback here will help me as I can continue to quietly discuss what should happen without making any rash decisions when the time comes. So keep those votes coming in!
Until then, my last exam is on the 18th! See you then!
