Back Again...

- Unidentifiedname

December 31, 2002

TQ's left, so I'm back (doesn't make sense, but oh well...). I had a great time at QunMing, except that it was freezin' cold. Seeing that Moo's still munching his grass, I'll bring ya the news for the day.

The newest Renegade Map by Aicraftkiller, CnC Tropics, has been released! Here's a preview:

Go to Renegade Realm to get it.

Moo's Ramblings

- MooMan65

December 30, 2002

Just thought I'd update you guys on some website and general matters that I feel like getting off my chest:

1) From the 6th of January I will be back to my normal self, and have three primary jobs in mind to keep myself and the site busy in times to come. #1 is the Capture Pack, I want to get V2.0 out as soon as possible after the 6th, I'm really at the point now of updating the manuals and images which gets rather tedious. #2 is adding more content to the site itself, I want to get past C&C game downloads up and available to get a proper modding database finished, as well as other information-based things like Tutorials and Encyclopedias. Bare in mind all of this is done me me and only me, so it takes time, these are mainly time fillers between projects. Lastly for #3 I will not go into much details, it involves another modding project of mine which may not even be finished hence the silence about it now. However if the time comes and I do have the determination to continue, I will announce the details here.

2) With a Generals release not too far away now, it's fairly safe to assume that I will not be modding it like I am doing with RA2/YR. Reason being I highly doubt I will be getting a new computer in the time period before the release and my current one just isn't cutting it. MODDEN already has two staff members working on their own projects, so thankfully we won't be absant of anything Generals. I will stick with RA2/YR as I myself am still enjoying modding it a lot and have many things in mind to do with it still. Even with the release of Generals, RA2/YR is not the kind of game just to disappear in the modding community. The possibilities available to us are astounding.

3) Finally I'd like to wish everyone an upcoming Happy New Year! Regardless of what Newspro says the time and date is, in New Zealand (which is the first major country to go into the new year) where I am there is just under 6 hours until January 1st 2003! There have been many exciting things done throughout the year like the release of Renegade, announcement of Generals, MODDEN's launch, a full MooRules release, other long-awaited mod releases like Allies Revenge 2 and Blitzkrieg, along with many website moves and closings so much that the community of today looks completly different from the community of a year ago!

Till next year... I bid thee goodnight!

Cannis Is Back!

- MooMan65

December 30, 2002

Well... somewhat... the new site is still under construction but is getting there! The Cannis Games Editing Network (C-GEN) is his new home, so you should update your bookmarks right now. Cannis still needs to get the CannisRules info and downloads back up, as well as his maps and other content, but right now the Assault Mappack page IS up. You can now continue to download the mappack so you can use the Assault Expansion for MooRules.

I will be updating MODDEN's Assault Mappack Project pages soon, and also include more content as Cannis has released a Developers Package which people can download that include full directions and information for people willing to make their own mods Assault Mappack compatible. Like the mappacks, MODDEN won't be mirroring it to make updating easier for Cannis, however the details and download link will be provided.

Anyway I'm glad Cannis is back, and wish him luck with the new site!

Superweapon Emulation!

- MooMan65

December 29, 2002

Banshee has e-mailed me letting me know of the beginning of superweapon emulation research. I'll let Banshee explain more of this via the e-mail:

Well, a nice news for TS and RA2 modding communty:

PPM is finally starting the superweapon emulation researches in the Advanced Tech Center. Well, you might probably ask... "what? why? how?". Well... understand the basis. The game doesnt allow us to make and customize new superweapons as we want, so, we have to bypass the engine by emulating a new way to make superweapons.

Ok, now, you have more "what? why? how?" then ever... Let's get more clear now: We're not trying to hack the game engine. Just to create a new method that makes the game fire a weapon pretending to be a superweapon. You will not have a cameo at the sidebar with the counter saying it's ready, it's totally different, but still you are able to aim it and fire only when you want. It will have a recharge time and after this recharge time it will be fired. The advantages of it is that it can be unlimmited, completely customized as you wish (even the counter you can customize ).

So, here is a list of features of this new method:

- Unlimited superweapons.
- No cursors problems.
- Completely customized superweapons (being released from the silo you wish, from the unit you wish or from sky using the weapon you wish).
- Doesn't take space from side bar.
- Doesn't affect other weapons or superweapons.
- Superweapon can be promoted if you wish (lol, it would be funny).
- Works with both Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2.

Please, participate of these researches to improve the quality of the future mods for Tiberian Sun, Firestorm, Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge. More info can be found in the Official Superweapon Emulation Researches. If it works, there will be a great revolution in future mods, because they will be able to have an unlimited number of superweapons at the most custmized ways ever!
This is certainly great news! Especially with the fact that the process will work with both Tiberian Sun AND Red Alert 2. The theory is sound, it works by using a structure/unit with a standard weapon, with coding workarounds to make it looks like a superweapon, although I havn't tried this method myself, they look confident it does work. The only limitations is that you will not be able to customise cursors for the weapon, all players would be able to know how much time it will take to be fired, each building (or unit) would be able to fire only one emulated superweapon, and the counter would only be seen near the superweapon. But as the title suggests, this is only an emulated method of creating a new superweapon, since the engine does not allow brand new superweapons the standard way. I wish them luck in their efforts and you can view the development at the links above.

Checking In!

- MooMan65

December 28, 2002

Just checking in to let people know I'm not dead! . Things offline have been MUCH more intensive than I anticipated previously, hence my lack of coming online even to update the site itself with new content. TQ however is finishing off his newsposting time here as he himself is going travellin' so I will force myself to come online enough to update the news. By January 6th my life will be back to normal and I will continue the usual! Thanks to the people who have sent in submissions over this time, I have received them and will get them up when I have the time. That will either be after the 6th or before that if I find the time.

So in closing, I'm back to post news so you can begin to e-mail me normally again with news and other e-mails instead of TQ. I hope all of you had a great Christmas and will have a exciting New Year!

New Site and Christmas Break...

- Unidentifiedname

December 24, 2002

A new site known as RA2 Warehouse has been launched. This is not truly related to modding, but we really should support the new sites in the community. Give them a hit by clicking here.

Moreover, I'll be on a trip to QunMing (a province in China) from 25th to 30th December, and I won't be seeing you until after the trip.

Last of all, on behalf of the Modden Staff, I wish you all a
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
and a Happy New Year.

New AR2 screen

Been a while since anything's been said about AR2 here...They have an exclusive new screen up here, which looks pretty good. 10 New Ren Maps @ WWU

- Unidentifiedname

December 23, 2002

Over at Westwood Underground, about 10 freshly made Renegade Maps are availabel for Renegade fans. However, the site is down for an unknown reason at the moment (even MHR himself doesn't know why), so those who wanna get the maps should check out the site later.

New TS mod

- TQ

December 22, 2002

Just noticed at CNCDEN that Reaperrr sent in a TS mod called Return of the Dawn, a TC/mod of Tiberian Sun to the original C&C.
This mod gives you the ability to play with most of the units from the original Command & Conquer. All values like hitpoints, firepower, rate of fire etc. are the same or almost the same as in the original game. You will be able to build the good old mammoth tank as well as the flame tank, and many more. To play this Mod, you need Tiberian Sun version 2.0 or higher.

Head over to CNCDEN to get it!

Quick Note On Blitz

- TQ

December 22, 2002

As most are no doubt aware, WestwoodNation.com has gone over its bandwidth limit, and the just-released TC for YR, Blitzkrieg, being hosted there, is now unavailable. I had hoped to get a mirror going here on MODDEN, but unfortunately that won't be possible. However, CnC Source does have a mirror up, so if anyone was wanting to download Blitz, but didn't get a chance before the site went offline, head over there to get it

Edit: I was notified by Wolverine that RenGen also has a mirror up, if you want to get it from there click here.

Uni is Back!

- Unidentifiedname

December 22, 2002

Phew! I've finally got my monitor repaired, finished my exams, and messed up my Physics exam, but anyway, to keep things simple, I'll bring ya today's news!
First of all, Moo's still grazing at the fields, so he'll not be present for the time being (well, considering that he's the webbie of the site, this piece of news is not totally off-topic ).
Secondly, the RA1 Mod Chat has finished. Missed it? No need to fear, for the chat log is available here!
Last but not least, as you all know, Christmas is near! To celebrate this important festival, Planet CnC has uploaded a few CnC E-cards. By sending a CnC E-card, you are helping this very community, spreading joy to your friends on this merry occasion, and inviting your friends to join forces in CnC games with you at the same time! March to Planet CnC immediately!

Code Red News

- MooMan65

December 21, 2002

This is not really a site update, but the e-mail I received contained screenshots making it difficult to transfer to anyone else. So I decided to upload them myself and announced them here. Anyway, I have been sent 4 new screenshots of this upcoming Total Conversion:

I must say some of the graphics look ingenious! Very nicely done voxels, cameos and camoflague based overcovering on the structures! Also I want to shout out that they are interested in beta-testers for the mod, so if you like what you see above, and are willing to help out, click here to go to their forum and offer your services!

- TQ

December 20, 2002

For those that don't already know, Blitzkrieg is now released after 2 long years of development. Go get it!

Blitzkrieg 2.00 is for skirmish/ online multiplayer playing of Yuri's Revenge 1.001, however the current version should mainly be used online, due to a rather vague AI. A special thanks goes to the people who always did support Blitzkrieg including; Michael Ippolito (German Juggernaut) and Pavel Tishchenko (Wiseman). The aim always were to create a Command and Conquer modifications with a unique style and a World War 2 game set in the unique Command and Conquer settings. TiberiumSun.com Resurrected

- TQ

December 20, 2002

This has nothing especially to do with modding, but important community matters have been posted about in the past, and I gather Moo helped with it in some way anyway I got an email from TiberiumSun.com proclaiming the completion of Project Resurrection, a grand undertaking by the webmasters to restore the site to its former glory. They have plenty of new content, including, I might add, voxels and shp's for RA2 and TS, and also Renegade skins, mods and utils. They're also updated regularly. Definitely worth checking out; TiberiumSun.com was one of the first sites I used to frequent when I joined the community and it's great to see it still going!

Snow Script

- TQ

December 19, 2002

If anyone is wondering, I've taken down the snow script after Assassin of CnC Source kindly pointed out to me that the script takes up 100% CPU power. If anyone has been having their computer slow down noticeably when visiting MODDEN, it shouldn't be happening any more

New ISP

- MooMan65

December 19, 2002

I am now on a new ISP, and so I will now be available if people wish to contact me. I still won't nearly be online as much as I normally am for the next two weeks, and TQ is covering news updating until then. I'm just posting to let you know I can now be contacted through e-mail (and if you're lucky, maybe on ICQ as well). Carry on TQ!

Front Line Mod Closed

Blitzkrieg Delayed

- TQ

December 19, 2002

[DK]PHIL has just advised that the mod will unfortunately be delayed. Don't worry though, it's not a long delay This from the man himself:
Well, it comes as no surprise, but we have to delay by 24 hours.

The reason is quite simple, I did not have the time to finish converting all the 3D artwork for ingame use due to some school work. However I just finished, and now it's just a matter of putting everything together.

However, we will be running a short internal test, to ensure a bug free release as we stated earlier. Now, we're all very sorry for this delay, it was a big blow to our release plans, however this time I can personally ensure that no further delays will occur!

Click here for the Blitzkrieg homepage...like Moo said before, this mod looks great, and I also can't wait to try it!

I'm Going AWOL

- MooMan65

December 18, 2002

I was waiting until tomorrow to post this, but it seems situations are conspiring against me. In an hour I will no longer have Internet access, my parents and I will be looking into signing up to a new ISP later on today but that could take a day or two. So I have had to post this newspost a day early.

In addition to that, I have family friends coming over from the UK from Friday (Thursday to most other people) the 20th until Janurary 4th next year. During that time I won't be online hardly as much as I am now. To remedy the situation, I have asked fellow DGN and MODDEN Staffer TQ to take over newsposting duties from me for as long as he can during this timeframe. So if you have ANY news related info you would normally send to me, please send it to TQ instead (his e-mail is in the DGN Staff page). However once my ISP problem is restored, which is not the main thing here, I'll still have internet access during this timeframe and will continue to come online at times, but not nearly as much. If you have any submissions for the site or any other non-newsposting e-mails you can continue to e-mail me as I will still check it regularly. Since I won't have as much time online, I can spend the time I DO have online working on projects and site updates like the Capture Pack, rather than newsposting.

However, TQ can only continue newsposting until the 30th, in which in the extra 5 days I will attempt to spend more time online to fill them in. So adding to that, only send TQ news related e-mails from today to the 30th (29th for other people), after that continue doing so to me.

I hope this isn't too much on an inconvenience, for all of you you'll just see another well-capable person newsposting and me posting often if there are any submissions or site updates during that time, so I won't be gone completly. However with the ISP problems in the news day or so for me, I will be completly out of contact. When I am back online with a new ISP you will see another newspost letting you know, other than that it's now TQ's show!

Conf. Generals Open

- MooMan65

December 18, 2002

I have just received word from Detail that Confederate Generals is now open as the Generals resource center for the Editing Source network, this is from Detail himself:

Confederate Generals is now open. It's the newest network site from Editing Source, we hope to be the #1 site for resources, like with our fellow network site C&C Resource Centre
I wish this new site luck! You won't see too much added on through until closer to the release of Generals or the World Builder.

Problems Solved!

- MooMan65

December 17, 2002

Let there be sanity... er... light! MODDEN, RADEN and the DGN Forums are now on a new server and running beautifully! I must applaud Lion and TheVoice for their efforts in making these sites available properly again! I appreciate the patience that you have demonstrated over the last few months of problems and downtime, there should be no more that now!

Several things happened on MODDEN while the server was slowing down, I released the Lion that I'm sure everyone was looking forward to! And a Blitzkrieg release is just around the corner! I also have finished off all voxel graphics for the next version of the Capture Pack, I just need to test them all in-game and get screenshots of them in the Capture Pack project pages, as well as possibly work on new alternate cameos based on Cannis' ones in the first versions! More details to come!

Blitz Screenies

- MooMan65

December 17, 2002

In the final times before a public release, some new beta screenshots have been released. Soon though we'll be able to take our own! Hehe. Click on the Captions below to jump to the image on the Blitzkrieg Homepage:

- Russian Artillery, looks scary? wait till you hear it!
- The German Frontline in the Battle Of Tobruk!
- German Panzers driving down the streets of Starlingrad!
Looking good! I can't wait to play this for myself!

Blitzkrieg Imminant!

- MooMan65

December 17, 2002

According to a status report on the Blitzkrieg Homepage, the first public version of the mod will be available within the next 48 hours! Here's the scoop directly from the site!

So, the release is now closer then ever before, which is well, pretty obvious.
Everything is actually finished now, however, the mod is being gone over to ensure no
bugs will ruin the gameplay, and this is especially importent due to the rather high expectations one might have after our rather long working on this mod.

Now a little information on this release.
The mod will feature an AI, however it is very basic, and far from difficult in any way, therefore skirmish play is meerly for practicing and learning how to play Blitzkrieg. To get the best experience, multiplayer is what you would want to try out. We will be arrenging serval game sessions after the release, however we hope people also can get together and play by themselves.

We will be working hard on creating an even stronger AI for a later release/update, but beeing aware of the current situation of the community and the fact that we are close to a holiday season, we feel that now is the time for the first public release!

The mod should be uploaded and ready for download within the next 48 hours.
This is promising! Be warned though, it is quite a large file to download for 56kers!

The Lion!

- MooMan65

December 16, 2002

...has arrived! w00t! Although I can barely post this (server problems still), I want to make sure I get this out by the deadline. Also this is a present for our resident Lion for doing all he can to sort out these problems. In a recent communique with me, he assured me the problems will be solved by the end of the week! Anyway without further adu... here's the details!

Creator: Clazzy, MooMan65
-Game: Red Alert 2/Yuri's Revenge
-Type: Infantry
-Name: Lion
-Available:
Here

And an end note, this download is exclusive to MODDEN and Clazzy's Savage War. No other site is allowed to stick it up themselves.

CnC Source Reviews ACK Map

- MooMan65

December 15, 2002

Our affiliate CnC Source has done a nicely detailed review of Aircraftkiller's restored Renegade map CnC_Mines. C&C_Mines was a map intended for release by EA Pacific but never made it to the final game, however AircraftKiller has finished it off for us! The review contains some really nice screenshots and details of the map itself! Here's an extract:

This map features two bases at opposite ends of the map with many hills, trees and buildings separating the both. As you step out of your starting location in either GDI or Nod and take your first look around you are met with hills that look as though they are touching the sky, and a pleasant sunny daytime feel. You feel as though nothing in the world could harm you and you are at peace, however once you turn around you see the enormous buildings ready for combat and you realize that this is WAR. In the center of the map is a little civilian town, it feels as though you have stumbled upon this quiet little peaceful village, also the well near one of the buildings adds this nice little touch.
You can view the screenshots and read the rest of the review right here!

GenEdit2k Is Open!

- MooMan65

December 15, 2002

In a mixture of good and bad news, Statik Vision has closed it's doors. However the team has not gone completly, they have opened up a new site called GenEdit2k which completly focuses on Generals and the modding aspects of it! GenEdit2k features most of the team from Statik Vision including head webmaster Morphious. I have adjusted the links here on MODDEN from Statik Vision to GenEdit2k where appropriate.

You can visit the site here and also their forums here which opened up earlier! Nice light scheme they have!

PS. On another note, it seems the server issues havn't completly sorted out, MODDEN loads slow at time and sometimes not at all, I'm in the dark here and have no choice but to wait it out. I apologise for everyone as it's been a test of patience for all of us.

RVMECH Interview!

- MooMan65

December 15, 2002

Transnote of Renegade Generals caught up with RVMECH, staff member here at the DGN and also a C&C: Generals official Map Maker! He's had a lot of experience working with the World Builder that it due to be released in January sometime. A few questions and answers are below:

Transnote: What is the biggest difference between creating maps as a fan and submitting maps to a large company for inclusion in a game?

RVMECH: Biggest differences I think is that I have to create maps according to what the team needs, not my own personal needs. I am given a description of what is needed and normally the theater that it should be in. I then take it from there. The team has been giving me feedback all along the way.

Transnote: How did EA go about in recruiting you for your map making services?

RVMECH: I was contacted by email and invited to chat with the producers. They had seen some of my previous work making player maps for RA2.

- MooMan65

December 15, 2002

There has been server problems all throughout the past day hence the lack of news updates for now. Right now MODDEN seems to be running normally with the rest of the DGN sites, and I hope it stays that way. Normal news updating will resume now like normal if the server remains stable.

These issues are out of my control, I can only site back and wait it out just like the rest of you, I do hope the problems that have been plaging the DGN will stop soon. It's as frustrating to me as it is for everyone else.

AR2 News

- MooMan65

December 13, 2002

Map Pack 1 for Allies Revenge 2 has been released! It contains 5 additional maps made by Chrono, Joey and Vinifera1 for the current public version 3.8. So if you want to play AR2 on some more maps head over to their downloads section now!

Additionally an XCC Mod Launcher module has been uploaded, this allows people who have V3.8 Lite to update the V3.8 Full without having to download everything they have all over again! Very useful for 56kers.

Finally they have confirmed times for the official WOL play time! They will all be held in the USA Server International Command Channel and the times are:

-14/12/02 19:00 - 22:00 PST (15/12/02 03:00 - 06:00 GMT)
-15/12/02 08:00 - 10:00 PST (15/12/02 16:00 - 18:00 GMT)

If you decide to join in, you should download the map packs so you're all up to date!

RA2MG Is No More

- MooMan65

December 13, 2002

Not another one, a while ago I e-mailed Cannis asking what was wrong with RA2 Map Guild and it's hosted sites, and just now I got a reply:

RA2MG.COM is no more. Z_Outlaw (of RA2MapCity fame) is the owner of the site and of the domain. Several months ago he went on hiatus and left the site in my hands until his return. About 2 weeks ago he did return, and several days later, announced on the RA2MG news page that he was back and his intention to "fix whatever doesn't work" on the site. A day later the site was disabled, and Z_Outlaw has not replied to any e-mails I have sent him. So I am as much in the dark as anyone as to what has happened. I must assume that RA2MG is kaput and will not return. I am currently considering a new hosting solution for CannisRules and for my map site, and I recommend that all other MapGuild members do the same.
Although it's not totally confirmed, it is rather safe to assume it won't be coming back. It always pains me to see a site go away completly, and I've been seeing too much of it recently.

Generals Chat Over

- MooMan65

December 12, 2002

Well, that's a wrap, the Gamespy Generals Chat is over and done with and as I said earlier, Lion has posted up the log at CNCDEN here! Some interesting questions relating directly or indirectly to modding are as follows:

*Dante* "What type of modding support will there be, gmax, GenX, what?"
[Harvard]: We're looking into this closely right now and I'm working with and pinging the community regularly. Can't go into specifics right now as I'd rather under promise and over deliver. Suffice to say we take it very seriously. We still plan on releasing the editor in the near future and this will help modding a whole lot. No specific date yet though. We're concentrating on making the game great and then we'll make sure the editor is up to snuff.
It has been mentioned the editor will make it possible to edit almost all Generals modding files with the exception of the .ini and Window files. Since Wordpad is your best resource with .ini files most coverage is sorted!

*Talith* Is advancement thru the Generals system defined by exact numbers? IE- 25 units killed to advance to 2 star, 50 to 3 so on so forth.
[Harvard]: Yes, there is a precise system. Its based on the same system as our veterency. Its based on the value of the unit killed.
Hmm, so it should be easy enough to adjust this entire system of 'leveling up' through mods.

*TheKGBspy* Q for Dustin: Any plan for ra3?
[Harvard]: Dustin? He says that we'll evaluate that option in the future, but I think we'd like to revisit that fiction sometime. Its really wacky and fun to work on. Allows us to be a bit goofy.
lol some peeps can't resist asking this can they?! Well, the answer is pretty vague like usual, but promising!

*Magnum{3}* Dustin seeing that the LCAC-like hover transport is existent do you think that coding will permit the modding entry of naval units?
[Harvard]: Heh, that's a favorite question...I'd say modders are a crafty bunch and can do things we never thought of. Can't say for sure but I wouldn't be surprised.
Well! We can't disappoint the EAP'ers! We'll find a way!

So, most of the questions didn't reveal too much new information, I singled out the most interesting ones in my view above. Now it's back to looking at the Generals .INI files for me!

New Graphics @ YR:A

- MooMan65

December 12, 2002

YR: Argentina has just undergone a HUGE content update! They have 19 new downloads all made by Napalm! 17 new voxels (13 tanks, one ship and three aircraft), one shp and his mod Supernova. You can download them all over at the site and I must say, some of the models look especially impressive!

Also they report that RA2 Map Guide is having account problems and their site it down along with all others hosted by it (CannisRules and YR: Secrets Revealed as examples). I hope it all gets sorted out soon! Too many sites have been shutting down recently...

New Structure

- MooMan65

December 12, 2002

SeaMan, author of the upcoming YR: Secrets Revealed mod, has handed me in his latest creation. A very nicely done Yuri Missile Silo utilising the Yuri Rocket Pad in RA2 and adding in Soviet Missile Silo related frames and images! Unfortunatly there are restrictions in using it if you want to have a second Missile Silo in the game, more information is in the downloads page information part for the structure.

Code Red!

- MooMan65

December 12, 2002

I have been informed on another Total Conversion mod in the works! This one is called Code Red and it is set 5 years from now simulating World War III. The mod includes a total of 5 different sides and totally new AI. You have visit their homepage here and forums here. The release date of a firt public beta has been pushed back until next month. To start things off, Darigaaz, the head designer of the mod, has sent me 4 exclusive screenshots to MODDEN showing off a number of the new features and things that will be available when it is released. Click on the thumbnails to show the larger versions of the shots!

It is looking very promising! I will update the Mod Database with the latest mods I have been informed of recently. And on this topic, I have received word from Lord Kain of Tiberian Revolution that there will be a patch to translate the mod from German to English when the mod is released, so no worries for us English-speaking peeps!

Lion?

- MooMan65

December 12, 2002

No! Not the Lion we all know and love (lol), I'm talking about the .shp of the Lion that I mentioned before. It's practically all ready, although I'm waiting for confirmation from Clazzy to stick it up.

Origionally the Lion did not have any death or firing animations, however Clazzy was able to adapt an active animation as the death one and it looks pretty good, however we've found no substitute for the firing animations, so I'm afraid by default you can't give it any weapon (if it's a neutral animal it doesn't matter anyway). If someone out there is actually able to do some convincing frames when I release it I'd gladly update the download!

So anyway, it's up to when Clazzy sends me the files, and that could be any time!

RA2 vs Starcraft!

- MooMan65

December 11, 2002

Not literally of course! Hehe. VGsatomi, a community map maker, recently sent in an image he made totally out of graphics manipulation that I had to share with everyone! It's a Red Alert 2/Starcraft Crossover image! It shown a Soviet base in a Starcraft battle! Pretty well made considering no traditional modding was involved! Click on the thumbnail below to see the larger image.

Chat Reminder!

- MooMan65

December 11, 2002

I received this in my inbox today from Chris Rubyor (aka Delphi):

Hey guys,

Tomorrow December 12th at 4:30 P.M. PST, the GameSpy team will be hosting a GameSpy Arcade chat featuring producer Harvard Bonin. This will be the perfect time to get all those questions lingering in the back of your mind answered and receive the latest status report for the ongoing Generals MP Test.

As an added bonus, ten multiplayer slots will be handed out at random throughout the chat. These lucky winners will be able to participate in the multiplayer madness for the remainder of the test period.

To participate in the chat, simply download GameSpy Arcade and login around 4:15 P.M PST.

Don't be late!

Delphi
Online Community Manager
Command & Conquer
I will try to attend the chat, but I'm sure a chat log will be posted by our sister site CNCDEN so I won't bother myself. Time to let out all those questions you've been bursting to ask! I've pretty much got all the questions I wanted to ask answered thanks to the GMPT, however many of you aren't so privilaged!

Tiberian Revolution!

- MooMan65

December 11, 2002

...is the name of a German mod I have just been informed of that's in the making! The English version of their site has just come online, and so part of it are still under construction. However Lord Kain, the lead designer of the mod, has given me from background information on the Total Conversion and looking at the screenshots on the english page it's looking promising!

Mod Features:
- 5 playable! factions (gdi, nod, slaviks troops, the forgotten, scrin)
- a minimum of two campaigs (planned for gdi and scrin)
- a lot of new units like ships, tacitus units an other stuff
- a research system (optional)
- running costs for everything (optional)
- new maps and gamemodes
- and many more

So far Kain has informed me they are 75% completed with the GDI faction. Let's just hope there is an English version of the mod also! I have a couple thumbnails of screenshots below, clicking on any of them will take you to the Tiberian Revolution homepage where you can select either German or English versions from there!

Classics

- MooMan65

December 11, 2002

A reminder that I do intend to cover the modding aspects of past C&C games from Tiberian Dawn all the way up to Tiberian Sun, so if you have any submissions from those past game feel free to send them in just as you would Red Alert 2 ones! Thing is quite a few editing-based commuity sites are shutting down one-by-one, and I don't intend at all for MODDEN to become one of them. As I know there are people who still edit past games I want this site to have a complete database of all the utilities and submissions used in past games as well as present!

I've just started work on the Capture Pack V2.0, and after that I will set my sights on past C&C games. I still have many utilities and resources for most past games still on my Hard Drive. I also am thinking of creating some modding tutorials for the basic parts of modding relating to MODDEN like how to add the graphics into the game etc. Most advanced modders already know how to do this, I'm just trying to reduce the number of people asking for help on this matter via e-mail.

So there's still plenty of things planned for MODDEN in the future!

More AR2 News!

- MooMan65

December 10, 2002

Wow! Ever since the release there are been talk and talk about the mod on the homepage! Recently Chrono, the lead designer of the mod, has posted an update mentioning that work has begun on the next version of Allies Revenge 2! From their own words, V4.0 will include more city/ruins artwork, many more maps including 6 player ones, 4-6 new units for the two sides and many more! They will also revamp the existing maps and maybe even release 'special additions' to the current V3.8 like map packs, music packs and more! There is no set release date, but they assure us work has begun! Two examples of this work are displayed on the site itself. I'll show one below, the cameo of the upcoming Nemesis Watch Tower!

RenAlert News

- MooMan65

December 10, 2002

Aircraftkiller has been working on his second Renegade Alert map, this one called RA_Currents. This will be primarily a naval combat map (hence the title!) so you can experience all the new existing ship-to-ship based combat in the mod! The site has uploaded 3 early screenshots of the map (which is looking mighty fine)! Click on the thumbnail below to go view them all!

AR2 News

- MooMan65

December 9, 2002

Within the early days of the first public release, the AR2 team have been keeping us updated with things planned for the mod and known errors in them. A list of known errors have been posted on the site should people not read the manual or visit the forums. I highly recommend people take read these and take them into account when playing the mod, the best defense against the random internal error problem they have is to save regularly.

The other announcement on the site is an official time and place where many AR2 players can all go on WOL to play internet games of the mod. This time and place is yet to be announced so stay tuned to the Allies Revenge 2 Website for the details! Also two screenshots were taken in an online game between some AR2 players! Click on the thumbnail below to jump to their screenshots page!

New Cameos!

- MooMan65

December 9, 2002

I had some free time on my hands in between newsposting, Capture Pack and DGN Forum work so I set about doing some quick cameos for more units in RA2/YR that do not normally have cameos. This round includes the Construction Excavator, Alligator, Polar Bear and Camel!

RenAlert News!

- MooMan65

December 8, 2002

The Renegade Alert Team has been working like mad recently! They have said the mod will include operational Helipads and Aircraft, now they have completed the Helipad structure and it works fully just like in RA! The helipad allows you to construct aircraft in the game, when you do it flies in from off-screen and lands on the pad. You can then enter the vehicle and drive it in the same way as the normal Renegade aircraft! If the Helipad is destroyed, you can no longer construct Aircraft. They have taken a few screenies! Click on the thumbnail below to jump to their site to view them!

In additional news, Godwin was kind enough to create a banner for Renegade Alert! This is for people who wish to link back to the Renegade Alert site! They will have a button available soon (which will be suitable for me to stick on MODDEN) so stay tuned! You can view the banner image as their Homepage!

Blitzkrieg Release!

- MooMan65

December 8, 2002

Hehe, no not right now! But I was surprised to be informed that after about 2 years of work and many testing versions, a public release of Blitzkrieg is imminant! They have said this before but things have come up to delay that release, so far no repeats are planned, so if nothing major happens you'll see a public release this week! Wow!

All these mods in development for a long time are finally being released! Soon we're not going to have any more to bug!

TS Superweapon News

- MooMan65

December 7, 2002

Interesting news for people still editing Tiberian Sun, I received this message from Banshee, staff members at Project Perfect Mod:

PPM managed to have 8 new multi-missiles running independently without affect the original one. Obviously, there won't be 8 multi-missiles in the mod, it might be new superweapons distributed between the 4 sides. We're now trying to work on how to customize these 8 new targetable superweapons. More info and ini code from it at the Advanced Tech Center, http://ppm.entexplode.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=25
Quite interesting! Superweapon modifying is one of the most sought after techniques to master, player around with superweapons and it's combinations requires a lot of time and patience. Maybe this research can rub into RA2/YR somehow! After all they use the same engine!

Generals Dev. Site!

- MooMan65

December 7, 2002

I have just been informed by Chris Rubyor (Delphi) that the C&C: Generals Development Team has set up a new subsiderary website for the game! Called the C&C Generals Development Website, the Development team will update the site periodically with information about the game, SAGE tools like the World Builder (Generals' map and missions maker program), current happenings, tutorials and more!

You can access the site at http://generalsdev.ea.com!

ES Back Online

- MooMan65

December 6, 2002

Detail has informed me that Editing Source is now back online in a new location:

Editing Source is back online. It's now at http://www.editingsource.com. All the old RA2 resources can be found at there first network site, C&C Resource Center".
Good news here! I have updated the links on MODDEN to suit the new networked site!

Server Upgrades

- MooMan65

December 6, 2002

Straight from da Lion's mouth!

My host TheVoice has been working hard behind the scenes to solve the server problems the DEN websites have been having lately. You should be seeing an improvement now. Site load times should be much faster.

Previously all three DEN websites were sharing the same server. As of now CNCDEN is on a different server than RADEN and MODDEN. I want to thank TheVoice for his work in getting us up to speed, and to all of you for your patience.
Good to hear that! Looks like this new server is holding up great!

AR2 Preview/Review

- MooMan65

December 5, 2002

Because I couldn't access the site earlier, I'm posting about this now. CnC Source posted up a real in-depth preview of AR2 a few days ago (now you could call it a review instead) and gave it a 10 out of 10! Nice read and you can also browse through more than 40 exclusive screenshots of the mod! Here's an extract of what they had to say:

I am truly impressed with AR2, it is a very unique mod that gives Yuri's Revenge the feel of an entirely new game. Now Total Conversion's are supposed to do this yes, but not all of them can pull it off. The other great thing is that both sides are completely different so you'll need different strategies and game plans for both sides - which is one thing I really like to see in any RTS. This is the best YR mod I have played to date which means I'd have to rate it a 10/10, this is a must download when it is released and trust me you will not be disappointed.
Head here to read the full thing and view the screenies!

That's right! Right on schedule, the Allies Revenge Team have released their RA2/YR Total Conversion to the public! Here's the scoop straight from the site!

The AR2 Team announces the first public release of its epic RA2/YR total conversion Allies Revenge 2.

AR2 has been in development for more than 2 years by the AR2 team, a small and dedicated team composed of co-producers Chronosfera and Godwin, technical director Curator and two assistants tmapm and Visceroidgod. Its mission is to create Command and Conquer modificaions with unique styles as well as to promote the betterment of the Command and Conquer editing community. Please visit the official AR2 site http://www.alliesrevenge2.com for more information and the downloadable modification files. Command and Conquer and Red Alert 2 are (c) Westwood Studios that does not support or endorse the production of Allies Revenge 2.
Well what are you waiting for? Head to their Downloads Page right now and get cracking! The full mod is 32.7MB which is quite hefty for 56kers, but using a download manager will help a lot. There's also a 13.8MB Lite Version which doesn't include music tracks if you wish! Woohoo!

Blitzkrieg UOTD

- MooMan65

December 4, 2002

UOTD = Unit Of The Day. Once again we have some more historial insight into another of the units planned for the mod! The Junkers Ju-87 "stuka". An extract is below:

The Stuka "Stu-car" dive-bomber was armed with three 7.92mm machine guns and up to 1000kg of bombs. During the first phase of the Battle of Britain the Stuka was used to bomb shipping in the English Channel. On August 11th during the second phase, they were used to bomb airfields, radar stations on the south coast and shipping in the channel again.

AR2 Final Prep!

- MooMan65

December 4, 2002

Tomorrow is a big day for the community! The release of Allies Revenge 2 is just around the corner! The site has posted up a final rundown of things to do before tomorrow!

1. Manual (95% finished)
2. Tower shp fixes (will only take minutes)
3. * some other stuff...
The mod itself practically done! Be aware this is only the first release, there is expected to be updates and patches throughout the course of time! This is one of the longest standing mods in the community, it's a great thing to see it finally off the private development stage!
