| Oh, the Joy of University! | | - MooMan65 | February 26, 2006 | It's only the second week back and I'm already getting swamped with work to do tearing me away from YR˛. So, to put things at a more realistic level, I've decided to eliminate Major Feature 3 Part B from v1.0 Gold. You might notice that the gold bar in the Progress Meter has been moved down slightly so there's now not as much left to do as there was before until the public version is released. This was necessary as otherwise things would just take far too long. Thus, once I have finished Major Feature 4 and all the final touchups, and stordoff completes the AI, there will finally be a release.
Unfortunately this leaves the Civilian Enhancement feature incomplete for the first version, so right now it leaves no viable way for the Allies and Soviets to easily obtain the civilian units the way Yuri can, giving him the advantage on the Urban Combat front. But I feel that this is a small price to pay in order to get the mod out as soon as possible, freeing up my commitments for a while so I can concentrate on my studies. Part B will instead be included in a later version. Hope this doesn't disappoint too many of you!
| I'm Still Alive! | | - MooMan65 | February 18, 2006 | As I said before, work is still being done! By thinking about the public release, I've also had to go back and take a look at all that I've done in the past to make sure it's been completed to public standards. One thing that wasn't is the Soviet Airfield where you have never seen the image of it so far... The plan originally was for spider-man_2099 to work on it, but he seems to have gone AWOL (one of the reasons why I choose to mod alone as opposed to a team) so I've had to throw together what I can myself:
Okay, it's not entirely what I wanted being a cut-and-paste job (noticably from the Tech Airport), but this graphic was based upon ArgCmdr's nice work on his Argentinian Airpad he released at YR: Argentina and then heavily modified by me to include Soviet textures, the replacing the pads with a single road strip, and including animations of flashing lights and a Soviet flag. You know everything else this building can do already, so there's nothing more to say here.
Still working on Feature 4 as well, but working five days a week does not help matters. Plus I go back to University tomorrow! I apologise that I wasn't able to keep to my planned deadline but both stordoff and myself need more time. In any case, it also takes time for Uni to build up the workload, so even with going back to school I still have the free time to continue development.
| Status Report | | - MooMan65 | February 3, 2006 | I'm sure this is a very exciting time for most of you. With the large number of newsposts recently, new information released and of course the actual announcement of the first public version, I'm not surprised that you are. Right now I've reached the point where development is mostly internal and so nothing much can be released here on MooCorner until they have been completed. Don't be fooled by the lack of activity here, as work is definitely being done! I just thought I'd post a status report on the current process of v1.0 Gold:
Right now we have 12% remaining on the meter before D-Day. Six of that twelve percent is completely dedicated towards stordoff's work on the AI (which will be updated in three parts, every time he completes work on a specific side), while the remaining lot is my work on Major Feature 3 Part B and Major Feature 4. I am slowly working my way through Feature 4 so to release something else for you people, and Feature 3 Part B will follow that.
That will bring the percentage meter up to 51%, which leaves one more percent. That will mark the point where the installer and launcher programs will be created, the readme file typed up and any other information pages uploaded here. Extensive, last-minute testing will also be done at this point.
Taking all this into account, unfortunately it is doubtful that the release will make its way out to you people before I begin Uni again. I am having to work five and six days a week now at my proper job so my free time is becoming more limited. Thankfully it takes a bit for Uni to get going, so I should still be able to continue working throughout the first month back to go through these last few steps.
In the mean time, there is always The First Decade and of course Star Wars: Empire At War (both due out this month) that could keep you busy while you wait. Stay tuned!
