| Back To Business: Beta News | | - MooMan65 | January 24, 2004 | Alright it's time to get back into the swing of working on YR˛ and I want to discuss what I plan to do on the beta-testing front in more detail.
While YR˛ is going to be packed with some rather unorthidox additions made to the game which I will detail more about as time goes on, they most likely will not be included in the first beta's. The beta's as they begin will most likely just include the actual Unit and Structure additions and modifications so the beta-testers can give me feedback on them. (especially my more controversial changes that the polls were for). I need to make sure that the actual side changes are within acceptable tolerances for the average player before I start including the larger aspects of YR˛.
Because I want the mod to be as complete as possible for the first public release, V1.0 Final will include most of the larger additions as well as the finalised Unit and Structure changes made by the beta-testers. Of course the beta-testers will have the privilage of testing the larger aspects of the mod before the public version is released, just that at the beginning of the Beta test period it will start off small.
As for the beta-testers themselves, I've compiled a list of candidates and run them by Cannis for confirmation so that part is almost sorted, however there are a few things I need to do before beta-testing can begin:
- Finish the planning of actual Unit and Structure additions and changes, as well as implimenting them to the game (this will take the longest)
- Finalise the beta-testers list so I have my list of final candidates. Also send out invitations to beta-testers via Forum PM to gather the list of actual testers.
- Sort out the information pages here on MooMan's Corner, namely the Unit and Structure information pages so the public can know what's in the beta's.
- Compile the first version of the YR˛ Manual. I am intending to try and design it in the same format as a proper C&C Manual for the look.
- Send word to Cannis to setup the beta-testing forum section and usergroup on the C-GEN Forums.
- Finally organise the first beta into XCC Mod Creator (yes I am using a Launcher this time around for my mod!) and upload it.
So unfortunatly yes there is still a few things to do before I even start the beta-test process, but that's what happens when you're a one-member team working an entire mod. I wouldn't have it any other way though, as this way I can be sure everything works out correctly when put together.
In the mean time I still welcome discussions on the forums as I've not nearly reached the point where I can no longer take ideas!
| I'm Baaaaack! | | - MooMan65 | January 15, 2004 | Well after being lost in the desert for three weeks I've finally returned back to good ol' New Zealand. I tell ya it is difficult to get back to my normal life after spending Christmas and New Years with many other people, so it could take a bit for me to figure out and start back up work on YR˛. Please bear with me as it's pretty difficult to settle down back to what I was doing all those weeks ago.
I'll have a more comprehensive update when I restart where I left off on the mod. Thanks for your patience over the past couple of weeks!
| Happy New Year! | | - MooMan65 | January 1, 2004 | Woo! I got the quick chance to jump on one of our Aunt's laptops at Arizona (I LOVE DSL!) just in time to wish you all a...
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
...I hope you all enjoyed the celebrations, I tell ya it was weird celebrating New Years in the US this time around as I'm used to being in the leading timezone for these sorts of things back in New Zealand, plus the fact that the US stretches over four timezones so we effectively celebrated four New Years!
I'll be back in about two weeks time and hopefully figure out where I left off on YR˛! See you then!
