TECH BUILDINGS |
| Tech
Armory |
Armor: Heavy
Purpose: Infantry Promotion |
| I was actually surprised this tech structures
wasn't included in the actual game, it was introduced in Tiberian Sun to upgrade units to
Elite status, and that's exactly what it does now. Once captured, the owner can send in
any infantry unit (except for Engineers and Attack Dogs) and after a brief interval, will
come back out of the Armory in full elite status. Gaining more experience and a better
weapon. You can select multiple units to go into it at the same time, but to prevent
rushes of elite infantry early, they will only go in one at a time and once upgraded, you
will need to move them out of the Armory manually before another goes in. |
| Tech
Communications Center |
Armor: Heavy
Purpose: Map Revealing Satellite |
| This tech structure was primarily designed
for the Soviets and Yuri, which had weaker map revealing methods than the Allies did.
After it has been captured, the entire map will be viewable by the player unless it gets
destroyed. The Allies can also capture it, either to prevent Soviet/Yuri use of it or to
save 1500 credits, this is a must have for any Soviet or Yuri army if they are available. |
| Tech
Research Center |
Armor: Heavy
Purpose: Special Technology Research |
Now capturing this tech building gives you
access to a special classified unit for the side you are playing. So whether you are
Allies, Soviets or Yuri depends on what unit you get from capturing this unique Tech
Building. If you are Allied, then you be allowed access to the classified Allied unit, the
Resonance Tank. It is equipped with a sonic wave dispersal system, basically a man-made
Dolphin weapon. It works in exactly the same way as the Dolphins sonic wave, but is
emitted from a central focusing dish. Resonance Tanks are immune to their own waves so
don't worry about sending large groups against the enemy. Now if you are a Soviet player,
you will gain access to the powerful Seismic Tank. This unique tank has the ability to
control seismic vibrations beneath the earth's surface and channeling them up to create a
powerful seismic wave which can envelop multiple enemies around the target area. The only
things immune to these deadly waves are structures and other Seismic Tanks, but they are
deadly to infantry and units. These units are excellent support vehicles as their range is
longer than the average tank.
Yuri's Revenge Only: If you are Yuri, you get access to the
secret Yuri Psi Drone, a small hovering drone housing a deadly mind. It has no offensive
capability while undeployed, but when you deploy it, it burrows into the ground only
leaving a small part of it only visible to you, it is completely invisible to the enemy.
If an enemy unit or infantry runs over the Psi Drone, it will be mind controlled. Once a
Psi Drone is deployed it cannot be undeployed, and will stay in the ground until
destroyed. The Drone can mind control an infinite number of units that run over it, but
after 3 it will start taking damage rapidly and will be destroyed eventually. Faster units
can run over a Psi Drone without risk of being controlled since they can act before the
Drone can respond. It's best to deploy them in large groups if you have the money, that
can guarantee a capture. |
| Tech
Police Station |
Armor: Heavy
Purpose: Special Vehicle and Infantry unit production. |
| A fun addition to urban maps. When captured,
it lets you build $400 Police Cars out of the War Factory and $50 Detectives out of your
barracks. Police Cars are a very useful scout, and anti-personal attack vehicle armed with
a heavy machine gun, and Detectives are a very cheap alternative to a GI or Conscript.
They are armed with a pistol (not the civilian ones) that does roughly the same amount to
damage as the standard infantry. But is available at a much cheaper price and gets
promoted a lot faster. Detectives can also garrison buildings and can fire their pistol
from the windows, also giving them increased power and range, making them a very deadly
and cheap source in Urban Combat games. |
