« CAPTURE PACK »
INTRODUCTION

The Capture Pack is an Unofficial Expansion for Yuri's Revenge created by me with additional help from C-GEN owner CannisRabidus and DGN Staff Member TQ. Primarily it is designed as an add-on to a plain, unmodded version of Yuri's Revenge to expand its functionality, however it can also be used as an expansion pack to mods in the community, as with a bit of work any mod can employ the use of it.

So what is the Capture Pack all about? Well, the purpose of the pack was to add logic into Yuri's Revenge which I believe should have been used in the normal game, and that is when you capture a certain sides unit creation structures, you build their units in your own colour schemes depending on your side. So for example if you were an Allied country, and captured a Soviet War Factory, you would be able to construct Rhino Tanks in the same bluish colour scheme as any other Allied unit, adding to the diversity and expansion of the gameplay experience. Thanks to additional assistance by Cannis, some of the captured units also employ modified cameo backgrounds. No abilities of the captured unit is different from the normal one, only the image has changed.

Currently the Capture logic has been activated for the following units:

Current Version: V2.0 (download here)

(units in italics also employ modified cameos)

  • Allies: Grizzly Battle Tank, Robot Tank, Prism Tank, Mirage Tank, Battle Fortress, Harrier, Amphibious Transport, and Destroyer.

  • Soviets: Flak Track, Rhino Heavy Tank, V3 Rocket Launcher, Apocalypse Tank, MiG, Amphibious Transport, and Dreadnaught.

  • Yuri: Lasher Light Tank, Chaos Drone, Gattling Tank, Magnetron, Mastermind, Floating Disk, Hover Transport, Boomer, Psychic Radar (Soviets only), and Cloning Vats (Soviets only).

As more versions are released this list will expand to include more modified units!

Unfortunately, to make another mod use the Capture Pack is not a simple task like just installing the mod with the Capture Pack, it actually requires the mod maker to specifically add support and the graphics .mix file to their mods to get the logic activated with it. I fully endorse that mods do this as this is what I want, although full credit must be given in your mods readme file as it has taken me months to design this pack. A step-by-step tutorial has been written for your convenience here if you wish to make your mod compatible with the Capture Pack.

The Capture Pack will continue to be updated even after a mod has added the files to use the pack in their mods. Since mods will distribute the graphics and coding with their own mods should they use the Capture Pack, their mods will not be affected at all by the new version. A mod maker can then choose to update their mod with the latest Capture Pack version, or continue with a past version, either way, the mod will still run perfectly as long as you do not have the updated version of the Capture Pack download above also installed.
